Everest Base Camp Trek is an experience of a lifetime, where nature, culture, and physical endurance come together in a mix one cannot help but be a part of. The trek begins with the excitement of a 35- minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a hill town at an elevation of 2,860 meters (9,383 feet). The trek starts at Lukla for a 3-4 hour climb to Phakding at 2,610 meters / 8,563 feet of green rolling country, suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, and the canopy of Buddhist prayer wheels and stupas. The trek gives the first view of Kusum Kanguru at 6,367 meters, a beautiful great peak with the mountains to come. The trek proceeds with pine forest walk, and perspectives of mammoth tall peaks like Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m), and Ama Dablam (6,812m) tower over Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,286 ft), Sherpa town. Monasteries, museum, and Sherpa tradition are observed here and acclimatization as well. Trek extends further to Tengboche (3,860 meters / 12,664 ft), renowned monastery and stunning vista of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. descend Imja Khola valley with beautiful panoramaview of Island Peak and Lhotse to Dingboche (4,410 m / 14,468 ft), and another acclimatization second day with buffer day as side trip as viewpoint like Nagarjun Hill or Chhukung Ri. Ascend Lobuche (4,940 m / 16,207 ft) with early view of Nuptse and Pumori ridges and Khumbu Glacier. The tour’s highlight is the trek to Gorak Shep (5,170m / 16,961ft) and on to Everest Base Camp (5,364m / 17,598ft), where visitors get a rather close sight of the Khumbu Icefall and the historic base camp, fluttered with prayer flags and flanked by monolith peaks such as Everest, Pumori, and Nuptse. The trek reaches Kala Patthar (5,545 m / 18,192 ft), the trekking summit, and one is treated to a view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Changtse. On the way back, on the sloping descent, the trek passes through Sherpas’ villages, the forest, and across the Dudh Koshi River, and thereby an opportunity is being provided to the trekkers to have their spine-chilling moment. Spanning a distance of about 130 kilometers, the Everest Base Camp trek is a journey into the core of the Himalayas with a dash of unspoiled beauty, Sherpa culture, and thrill of high-altitude trekking. It is a lifetime experience for anyone who wants to reach out towards the marvel of nature and the essence of mountaineering.

After landing, you are transferred to your hotel, where you can settle in and take a moment to absorb the atmosphere of Nepal’s vibrant capital. Later in the day, a detailed trek briefing is covering the route, safety guidelines, and key highlights, followed by a thorough gear check to ensure everything is in place for the journey ahead. If time and energy allow, you may choose to explore some of the valley’s iconic cultural landmarks, such as Swayambhunath, known for its hilltop views and spiritual ambiance, or Boudhanath, one of the largest stupas in the world and a center of Tibetan Buddhist culture.
The journey begins with a scenic 30-minute flight to Lukla Airport at an altitude of 2,800 meters, offering striking aerial views of the Himalayan landscape. Upon arrival, the trek starts with a gentle descent toward Phakding at 2,610 meters, taking around 3 to 4 hours. The trail winds through lush forests, traditional Sherpa villages, and crosses several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, providing a pleasant and scenic introduction to the Everest region trek.
The trek continues toward Namche Bazaar at an altitude of 3,440 meters, taking approximately 5 to 6 hours. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, crossing a series of high suspension bridges that add both excitement and dramatic views to the journey. Passing through pine forests and small settlements, the climb gradually becomes steeper as you approach Namche. Just before reaching the town, a rewarding moment awaits from a ridge where trekkers often catch their first distant glimpse of Mount Everest, making the effort truly worthwhile.
An acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar offers a chance to rest while still staying active and adjusting to the altitude. You can spend time exploring the vibrant Sherpa town, known for its markets, bakeries, and mountain culture. For those who want to hike, there are rewarding options such as a walk up to the Everest View Hotel, a visit to Khumjung Village, or a short climb to Syangboche Airstrip. An acclimatization day in Dingboche is essential for adjusting to the higher altitude and preparing the body for the days ahead. While it is a rest day, light activity is encouraged, and an optional hike to Nagarjun Hill is a popular choice. The climb is challenging but rewarding, offering wide, open views of towering peaks such as Makalu, Island Peak, and Lobuche East. The rest of the day can be spent relaxing in the village, allowing your body to gradually adapt to the altitude.
The trek to Lobuche at 4,940 meters takes around 5 to 6 hours and gradually brings you deeper into the high alpine landscape. Beyond the pass, the terrain becomes more rugged and open, with striking views of towering peaks such as Pumori and Nuptse rising above the glacial landscape, making this stretch both challenging and memorable.
The day begins with a steady trek to Gorak Shep at 5,164 meters, taking you across rocky terrain and glacial moraine with increasingly dramatic mountain views. Upon reaching Gorak Shep, you leave your heavier bags behind and continue the final stretch toward Everest Base Camp at 5,364 meters. This part of the journey is both challenging and rewarding, as you walk alongside the Khumbu Glacier, surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. Reaching Everest Base Camp is a significant milestone, where you can spend time taking in the raw beauty of the glaciers and high-altitude landscape. Afterward, you retrace your steps back to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay.
The day begins early with a challenging pre-dawn hike to Kala Patthar at 5,545 meters, taking around 7 to 8 hours in total including the descent. The climb is steep but rewards you with breathtaking sunrise views over Mount Everest, Nuptse, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks, often considered the best vantage point of the entire trek. After soaking in the panoramic scenery, you descend back through Gorak Shep and continue the journey downhill toward Pheriche at 4,371 meters, where you can rest and recover after a long and rewarding day.
The trek back to Namche Bazaar takes around 6 to 7 hours, following a familiar trail as you retrace your steps through Tengboche. The descent feels easier, allowing you to fully enjoy the surroundings, with clear views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam accompanying you along the way. Passing through forests and Sherpa villages once again, the trail offers a rewarding mix of scenic beauty and a sense of accomplishment as you return to the vibrant heart of the Khumbu region.
The final trekking day leads you back to Lukla, taking around 6 to 8 hours as you follow the familiar trail along the Dudh Koshi River Valley. The descent passes through charming villages, forests, and suspension bridges, offering a chance to reflect on the journey while enjoying the last views of the Khumbu landscape. Reaching Lukla marks the completion of the trek, where you can relax and celebrate your successful adventure with your team.
A short 30-minute flight brings you back to Kathmandu, offering one last aerial view of the Himalayan range.
